With power applied, the crystals align and light passes straight through: the glass reads as ordinary clear glazing. Switch the power off, and the crystals scatter light, turning the glass private. The change takes under a second, with no moving parts and nothing to open or close.
A wall switch, remote, app, or building control system operates the glass: including multi-zone control, so different panels or rooms switch independently. Privacy becomes part of the architecture instead of something bolted onto it.
